In our busy, complicated lives we focus most of our attention outwards as we constantly interact with the complex world around us. Much of the time, we leave our minds on automatic pilot and take their inner workings for granted. Meditation, like Yoga, allows us to turn our attention inward and gain perspective on our lives and priorities. Spend this Sunday afternoon learning and practicing Shamatha Meditation, through various techniques, to promote mindfulness, stability, calmness, and help reduce physical and mental stress. We will alternate between practice, discussion, and answer questions about what comes up or how to overcome obstacles. Suitable for those who have not meditated before as well as experienced meditators seeking to deepen their practice. Whether sitting on the floor supported by props or in a chair, you will be taught the essential points for meditation. All bodies welcome.
