WRITE TO REGISTER FOR 2022 UPDATES.

In this 5-day retreat you will become acquainted with the teachings of one of Yoga’s most distinguished and influential masters, B. K. S.  Iyengar, whose practice systematically trains the Body, Mind, and Spirit.

One of the most widely recognised benefits of Iyengar Yoga is its emphasis on precision and alignment in the exercise of the Asana (posture), including the use of props to support each Sadhaka (yoga aspirant) in mastering the postures correctly, with minimal effort and in complete safety.  Under the supervision of a highly trained teacher, you will train in standing poses, twists, forward bends, inversions, back bends, supine poses, and relaxation.

The price includes your room, equipped with sheets and towels, all yoga, pranayama, and meditation classes, plus lectures by a Doctor, 3 amazing meals a day, and use of all the facilities.

Please do be in contact.
With wonderful wishes to each of you,
Eliza

More Delightful Details

We all have bonds that tie us to the world. They come in the form of attachments, aversions, and habits: how we habitually use our bodies, the thoughts we return to, the thoughts we avoid or repress, and the way we repeat patterns in our relationships with others. Bonds can help us feel safe, but can also restrict our potential to make meaningful changes in our lives. In modern life we rarely find time to examine our bonds. What attachments and habits are important in our lives? Do they remain useful to us, or are they trapping us in repetitive or negative cycles?

During the 2020 Beyond Bones, 5 day retreat, we will be creating space to explore the bonds we have through yoga, pranayama (yogic breathing) and with other people.

Yoga provides an experiential way to examine the habits of the body and mind and to find flexibility and movement within these. Through yoga we can become aware of the samskaras (
imprints of habits) on our body and mind and gain the self-knowledge required to prevent injury, preserve health, find freedom within limitations, and to cultivate a stable mind.

Consciously altering our patterns of breathing is amongst the most powerful ways to explore the patterns imprinted on our nervous system, and brings light and clarity to many emotional patterns we hold in the body. Practising pranayama allows us to create both physical and mental space for renewal and change.

Our deepest bonds are often most clear in our relationships with those people closest to us. Retreats are often wonderful spaces for personal reflection and renewal. Knowing this we would like to encourage you to invite a family member or other loved one to join you on this retreat, and enjoy the experience of space, movement and renewal together.

The retreat is open to every body with some yoga experience, as each person can strengthen their areas of weakness and learn fresh beneficial techniques.

Biographies:
Dr. Chloe Saunders is a doctor, who spent three years working in medicine in Scotland before moving to South London in 2018 to specialize in psychiatry. She met Eliza at a yoga retreat in 2015 and has been a keen student of the Iyengar method since. She is interested in where western and eastern understandings of the body can intersect and inform each other. She has spent time studying yoga and Ayervedic medical tradition in Northern India and appears alongside Eliza in the podcast ‘Beyond bones’, a series of kitchen table conversations between a doctor and her yoga teacher.

Eliza Bishop is a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor and Meditation Guide. She's been practicing for 16 years and teaching for 7. She lived 3 years in India and studied with the Iyengar family in Pune and Swati and Rajiv Chanchani of Yog-Ganga, with whom she still makes regular retreats. For Eliza, the art of teaching means bringing human beings into an asana with complete involvement of body, mind, and breath, creating awareness that allows one, eventually, to study the mind. In this way the yogic and Buddhist paths merge into one and have solidified a life long path for Eliza. Yoga is for every body and can teach us all that we ultimately belong to the same family.
